They aren't kidding about the steep stairs in the double story cabins.

We eventually returned and the stench was masked with strong disinfectants, it took a day to clear and eventually we could stay in it. Night 1, we were overrun by large cockroaches , back to reception , and when reported they provided a large can of RAID, "anyhow my 3 boys took delight at having target practice". Day 2 the toilet bowl was invaded by giants ants, back to reception, and advised someone will come and fix it. They did, and there were fewer ants. Unfortunately it appears the owners are just greedy money grabbers and pay no attention to maintenance. The bedroom carpet is disgracefully filthy, in need of a desperate change, the 2 seater lounge and chair is scraggly and stringy, Should the owner elect to upgrade he'll do better by collecting furniture and white goods on hard rubbish days.

Great spot right on Shelly Beach on the Central Coast. Perfect location for a getaway for adults or families next to the surf club which has a cafe restaurant downstairs 7 days a week & a bar & bistro upstairs for lunch & dinner Fri, Sat & Sun. Also next door to the huge Bateau Bay Bowlo (aka Wyong Leagues) & on the other side is Shelly Beach Golf Club. Both clubs offer fantastic food & dining options. Shelly Beach Golf Course is also next door & offers 18 hole golf with golf buggy. Just up the road is the Bateau Bay Square, a mall as good as any with 100s of shops & Maccas etc. We rented an old style 2 bedroom villa & although it's a bit dated & the shower pressure a bit weak other than that no complaints for $100 a night on the weekend in March. There are also beachside cabins which cost a bit more but we were happy to be a few minutes walk away. The kiosk on site offers newspapers, groceries & food on weekends & school holidays. We googled cabins on the Central Coast & found this place & feel like we hit the jackpot because it's great value for the position it's in. Also $3.50 schooners at the Bowlo all day every day

Close walk to beach, fairly priced, very friendly down to earth staff. One of the few camp areas that allowed us to use our own coal burning BBQ, which was just as well as the sites kitchen is very limited with one microwave, jug, fridge, and gas stove, constantly locked behind two doors and situated at the back of a room with no windows to outdoors. Be careful if using a tent sites. A lot of them are based under blue gum trees where hoards of birds will constantly make a loud noise from about 5 am to about 6 pm and be prepared to have to clean your tent afterwards of bird droppings. Wind gusts cause tree bark etc to drop on you without warning. Definitely not recommended for parking your new car. Seems there is a trend from the locals to drive past just after dusk, constantly all beeping their horns in unison!

I live in Melbourne and elected to spend time here to be close to family. Surfed the net, and was suitably impressed with the web page. On Arrival, I was aghast at the state of the entrance.!!!, But felt, to early to judge , proceeded with final booking, and they left me in no doubt that all balances are due now, (which I did not object to) However, when locating the cabin, it was not as agreed facing the Ocean, greeted by 2 overflowing garbage bins and an internal stench that resembles a rotting animal. It was the at the back of the ocean facing units with not the slightest view of the ocean. Only the backs of other cabins.

Asked if we could be moved , NO, it was out of the question, unfortunately we had nowhere to go and can understand why head office does not want to be contacted. I did not expect a 5 star resort, but a simple resort where cleanliness and maintenance standards are exercised. One would like some ventilation and a sea breeze to flow through when out, Now bear in mind when you do go out, take all your valuables with you, since you would think the security gate locks, but no, it does not, so prepare yourself to comeback to an oven as you have to lock the sliding door.

And last, but not least, bring a roll of duct tape, as you'll need it to keep the remote together.

I reported this and was told sorry the bin collection was completed this morning , and they'll see what they can do about the stench. We requested a cancellation and was told this is not possible, requested the manager, no chance, the staff on duty had no authority to cancel, only head office. Requested details, and they not allowed to provide any name or contact details for head office staff or location. I proceeded to canvas all remaining resorts in the area and approximately 12 real estate agents in the area for accommodation, but to no avail.
